Shift those nesting birds
Spring is the time when birds start nesting, and although this is a welcome sign of improving weather, it can also cause problems because of noise, droppings, scratching on cars, and general nuisance. The PestClear Sonic Bird Repeller is the latest product designed to move the birds on to make their nests somewhere else.
The repeller works by emitting your choice of three sounds, to trick the birds into thinking they would be better off moving along. A realistic hawk sound is enough to scare off most small birds, and interestingly, this also has the same effect on rodents, including mice, rats, squirrels and even some rabbits. Larger birds don’t like the sound of the angry barking dog, and this sound can also be used to deter human intruders. The third sound is a generic chirping noise, designed to replicate the sound pattern of distressed birds. The repetitive “chirp-chirp-chirp” has been described as sounding more like an electric pencil sharpener than a bird, but we’ve seen it working really well on starlings in our own garden.
The bird repeller plugs into a standard indoor plug, and has a 30 ft (10m) extension lead. It comes with both a wall mount and a ground mount, adjustable noise level, and the choice of activating either on a 2-setting timer, or by detecting motion. We’ve even included a light sensor, so that it automatically turns itself off in darkness.
Solar Power Option
Some pest problems may be out of range of a convenient plug point, in which case you can use the optional Solar Power Kit, which we designed especially for our outdoor range of products. This kit works even in the limited sunshine available during the typical northern European winter.
We’ve got a long history in bird repellers, going back nearly 20 years. The product has yet to be invented that can outwit every single bird, (we’re working on it – but don’t hold your breath). Over the years, we’ve used distress calls, gunshot sounds, predator calls, and ultrasound. This product covers the largest area ever, and it offers a choice of three totally different sounds. It is basically an upgrade to the product which won us the UK DIY Industry Award for “Best New Product” in 2003, and results from our first couple of thousand sales indicate that it gives you the best chance of success, short of attacking the birds with a 12 bore shotgun, (which we definitely don’t recommend).
